Creative Oasis

My friend, Hyacynth, has an awesome blog, Undercover Mother. She is so creative and fun, and sweet as can be! And she recently wrote this....

"The first Saturday of each month, I'll introduce one Simple Swaps as a way encouraging my friends here to find the time and resources to make simple changes aimed at gaining a healthier, more inspired, intentional lifestyle. "

I read over the post and realized that I do not have a space in my home to call my very own, or atleast I don't have one that sparks any sort of creativity (unless you count the shower, I get my best thinking done in there!). I thought about how my little desk/computer/office nook (the landing at he top of our staircase, just outside the three bedrooms of the house) has gotten messy and cluttered and is just plain depressing. How am I ever going to produce quality blog posts in a nasty, dark corner? And you know what, maybe...just maybe....this is the reason why I can't ever seem to come up with anything good to post about (see: how i only post once a week, if that!). So I took on the challenge. I carved 15 minutes out of my day to transform this space into something warmer, and more creative. I must say, I took longer than 15 minutes, and my space isn't totally done yet (i need staple gun so i can reupholster my desk "chair".

So here is my before.....

And my after.....

Isn't it lovely?

I was especially excited because my husband isn't a big fan of asian-inspired decorations and i am, so i was able to make this space truly my own. Do you notice I even added a really cool desktop background to match my theme?

Thanks Hyacynth, for helping me off of my writer's block and make me feel more in-tuned to myself so I can get back to creating and writing like I love! ;-)

I know I already shared how awesome your space looks, but Jen, really, it looks fabulous! I'm so glad you have a space just for YOU so you can write and breathe and just let the creativity unfold.
You made such a beautiful Creative Oasis, and I hope it provides so many hours of serenity for you!

What a beautiful space! And I have that same desktop theme! :) I really need to do this too. Right now I work at the dining room table - even after the last place we lived where I declared, VOWED, to not work where I eat. Gotta figure something else out.
