My kids and I are certainly the outdoorsy type. We like to get out and play and explore and go on adventures, even in our own backyard. Since the kids are only 2 and 4, we can't be too daring in our endeavors, but even the simplest tasks can and usually are, fun!

One excellent resource for ideas when it comes to getting outside is the National Wildlife Federation website. There you can simply enter in a topic or issue you are interested in exploring that day. For example, say I wanted to teach the kids about birds today. I enter the word "birds" into the "Be Out There" Activity Finder and it will pop up a list of activity suggestions. The BEST part of this is that it will also tell you the "participant age", so you can judge right from the title if it is an activity that will fit your kids abilities.

If you aren't quite sure what you want to explore today, you can do an Advanced Search and look up by "age", "cost", "difficulty" and so on.

With Earth Day tomorrow (and the promise of a yucky, rainy day), I am having to revamp my plans for us (have you seen my B Kind 2 Earth Day post??). So I was able to look through the NWF activities and find a few alternatives for us to still do our part, without going out in the rain. I am now considering making a Homemade Suet Feeder with the kids instead.

I also am checking out The B Kind 2 Earth Day's Facebook page, to find idea's from other people on ways to celebrate Earth Day as well.
