Mama Time ~ It's Not Just for the Kids

I used to be a bit of a party animal in my day. I never was really too irresponsible or reckless, just knew how to have a good time. Even after I got married, I still had my weekly Friday night's out with my best friend. It was lots of fun. But then, I became a mother, and time for me was thrown right out the window.

Now, I'm not saying I miss my clubbin' days, because I don't. I have obviously grown up and becoming a Mom is the best part of it all! But those times, when I got to just go out and have fun, were just that...FUN! And in the last 19 months of my son's life (and the 39 weeks of pregnancy prior), I am pretty sure I have had about 5 Girl's Nights (actually, we dub them MNO's ~ Mom's Night Out). That's right...FIVE.

That's why last night was such an awesome treat! Not only did I get to spend some much needed quality time with my Mama Friends, but I got to spend myself some "Jen Time". A time when I wasn't Mom, Wife, Sister, Daughter, Boss...I was just me, just Jen. It was absolutely vital for me to have this time to myself, as I believe it is for every mom, whether she is a New Mom or a Seasoned Mom.

Mom's need time to rejuvinate and enjoy themselves. With the every day In's & Out's of motherhood, like laundry, dirty diapers, dishes, wiping noses, kissing boo-boo's, and such, it can really take a toll on the mentality of a person. Being able to revert back to pre-Mom every once in a while is essential.

That ever famous quote "If Mama ain't happy, ain't no body happy." is so true. And as a new mom, if you find yourself going day in and day out with each day getting harder and harder and you feel yourself getting more and more bitter, it's time to step back, revitalize yourself, and relax. Whether it is with a night out with the girl's or simply a bubble bath or a movie, you deserve it! Being a mom isn't easy, so help yourself out (and those around you) by spending some time on you.
